Iran had deployed two Greco-Roman representatives to the two-day event while 130kg wrestler Bashir Babajanzadeh managed to directly succeed to the second round since his Hungarian rival Balint Lam failed to show up on the mat.
Babajanzadeh defeated Polish wrestler Lukas Banak 6-0 in the second round to advance to semifinals where he downed Stjepan Lavric of Croatia 3-0 on road to finals.
However, due to minor shoulder injury and to prevent aggravation of the issue, the Iranian athlete skipped the final round at the discretion of the technical staff offering a medical certificate.
Babajanzadeh was supposed to compete against Meng Qiang of China, owner of Asian silver and bronze medalist of Asian Games, but conceded to the silver medal.
In 85kg category, Davoud Abedinzadeh struck an off draw in the first round and in the second, he lost to Belorussian world bronze medalist Javid Hamzatov and will continue in losers group.
Since his Polish rival failed to attend the competition due to injury, Abedinzadeh appeared against the Belarusian rival where he conceded a 1-4 defeat ending up in the fifth ranking.
Hungarian Grand Prix is underway in the city of Szombathely, Hungary on February 06-07, 2016.
